Summary

Twin Liquors’ current logo branding strategy is inconsistently applied throughout it’s media channels. All physical locations feature a previous iteration branding, featuring 2 identical purple grape bunches on each side of the slab serif wordmark “Twin Liquors.“ On their website and on all in-store promotional items they feature a contemporary wordmark logo consisting of a traditional Trajan Pro typeface with a stylized letter "W".

Approach

The challenge for Twin Liquors was to create a unifying brand logo that speaks to the company’s refined identity and established family history while also being visually striking and uniquely identifiable.

About Twin Liquors

Twin Liquors began as a mercantile store in the late 1800s in the heart of Austin, Texas. Shortly after the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, the Jabour brothers ventured into the liquor industry with “Jabour’s Package Store,” which contained a liquor store, a drug store and a soda fountain. The Jabour family expanded the business and in 1982 a new generation of Jabours began operating a small 700-square-foot liquor store in downtown Austin. This store was named “Twin Liquors” in honor of Theodore Jabour, who was one of the original twins of Jabour’s Package Store.

Logo

Twin Liquors is a family business with a rich history and tradition. Their most recent rebrand seeks to position the company as a fine wine and spirits alcohol provider, distinguishing itself from competitors by focusing on its high end goods and services. I wanted to create a unifying brand logo that speaks to the company’s refined identity and established family history with a visually striking and uniquely identifiable brand mark. I decided to focus on incorporating iconography associated with Dionysus/Bacchus, patron saint of wine, ecstasy, fertility and the harvest and sought to integrate the symbolism associated with Dionysus and the dual nature of Twins, that gave Twin Liquors it’s origins.
